Medigap Plan M

Medigap Plan M is the middle ground between general benefits, which is Plan A, and the robust benefits package of Plan F. It will also include financial protection against instances where long-term hospitalization or skilled-nursing facility stays are necessary.

Premiums for Medigap Plan M are slightly lower than other options, mainly because enrollees will split his or her private insurance companies, paying only 50% of costs.

Under Medigap Plan M, the following benefits and costs are covered:

  • First three pints of blood for a medical procedure
  • Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) care coinsurance
  • Medicare Part A deductible costs
  • Foreign travel emergency coverage (up to plan limits)
  • Medicare Part A hospital coinsurance and hospital costs up to 365 days after Original Medicare benefits are exhausted
  • Part A hospice care coinsurance payment or copayment
  • Medicare Part B copayment or coinsurance payment
  • Part B preventive care coinsurance payment

With Plan M, 50% of Medicare Part A deductible is paid, whereas Part B deductible is paid entirely out-of-pocket by enrollees.
